Koots Salle à Manger was taken over in late 1999 by
Patrice and Catherine Repellin, when it was known simply as Koots.
A favourite with locals & critics alike since its inception,
there is new energy in the air since they re-launched as Koots
Salle à Manger in 2009. The new interior design conveys an
ambience of understated sophistication that befits the house
"modern French" style and welcomes diners with comfort in mind.
Owner and chef Patrice Repellin is celebrating ten years
at the helm after having gained experience in classic French
cuisine in restaurants and fine hotels in his native France, and
then Switzerland. His experience in the USA and Caribbean, and then
in Sydney restaurants afforded him an appreciation for a light,
fresh approach to fine produce, and this has become his
hallmark.
For lunch, the"Prix Fixe" $30 two-course special
continues to draw crowds. Outside, our courtyard beckons on
sunny days and warm nights for stylish al fresco dining. Inside,
there's a chateau-style open fireplace for when there's a
chill in the air.
While some things have changed, comfortable hospitality and
confident style remain the focus. And of course, our food. Here,
the menu achieves balance between old-world techniques and fine
new-world innovation.
With its warm charm and understated style, this is a place that
buzzes with local flavour: an open invitation to relax, feel good
and indulge one’s inner gourmand.
We look forward to your visit.
À bientôt!

Quotes from recent press about Koots:
"Koots has undergone something of a minor revolution...The
place certainly feels like it has a new energy". Michael Harden,
Australian Gourmet Traveller, November 2009 (read the full
review here)
"Elegant rather than rustic, and unafraid to take the occasional
risk, [Patrice Repellin's] menu is aware of fashion...Yet he's
astute enough to know not to push the barrow too far..."
The Age Good Food Guide
2010 (read

(Awarded one chef's hat in 2004,2005,2006,2007,2008, 2009,

Larissa Dubecki, food critic for The Age's Epicure section,
reviews Koots Salle à Manger
with a score of 15/20. See the full
review of 5 May 2009.
“….Koots is the quintessence of the chef's own restaurant.
Focused, tightly run and with enough Gallic insouciance in the air
to suggest something special, it's home to the consistent
excellence of Patrice Repellin's modern French food.”
The Age Good Food Guide 2008.
“Repellin exercises a light hand while simultaneously dismissing
gimickry...
His trump card comes with a faultless crème brûlée... Confident,
apparently effortless service and a romantic undercover courtyard
make Koots the perfect neighbourhood bistro.."
